If you are an outdoors type of person and a hiking enthusiast, Mt. Alto Peak in Brgy. Cabintan, Ormoc City, Leyte is one you should not miss. This mountain, also known as Mt. Amindiwin or Aminduen as it is locally known, stands at 1332 meters above sea level and is one of the rising hiking destinations in Leyte. The Mt. Amindiwin traverse, which is thought to be the tallest in Eastern Visayas, is a delightful walk over occasionally level and moderately sloping terrain before the steep hike to the peak from its base. After three hours of walking, the ascent itself will lead you to the even more remote and alluring Lake Hanagdan. The trail is located in a forest with a diverse range of plants and animals. It is also believed to be the home of farming communities whose vegetable plantations and cool climate match those of the Cordilleras. One should also try their Alto Peak Chocolate that is truly one of a kind and delectable.
