FORMER CHIEF OF STAFF AND DISTRICT PLANNING OFFICER to the office of Congresswoman Lucy Marie Torres-Gomez, Mayor Richard I. Gomez (also fondly called “Goma”) has extensive preparation in the field of congressional work. For more than six (6) years prior when Congresswoman Torres- Gomez served as representative of the 4th District of Leyte in 2010, Mayor Richard already immersed himself with the local conditions in the City of Ormoc. He also completed 3 courses on Effective Legislation and Good Governance from the National College of Public Administration and Governance in the University of the Philippines.

A PRODUCT OF UP DILLIMAN AND THE UP OPEN UNIVERSITY where he once received recognition as an “Outstanding Student of 1993”. Mayor Richard is a Master’s degree holder in business administration from the University of Perpetual Help, on top of pursuing graduate studies at the Film School of Continuing Education of the New York University. He is currently enrolled for Ph.D on Public Administration.

AN ACCOMPLISHED SPORTSMAN AND ATHLETE, Mayor Richard has won gold medals in fencing in 1997 (SEA Games), 2003 (Hanoi, Vietnam), and 2005 (SEA Games in Manila), setting national and international records in that sport. He also won two (2) silver medals in 1997 (SEA Games in Jakarta, Indonesia) and bronze medals in Thailand in the same sport. Locally, he was a 5-time national fencing champion. He is the President of the Philippine Fencing Association (PAFA).

A MULTI-AWARDED ACTOR, T. V. HOST, AND TV COMMERCIAL DIRECTOR. He has won eleven (11) acting awards given by award-giving bodies both on television and film/cinema such as the Film Academy of the Philippines, FAMAS, Gawad Urian Awards, PMPC Star Awards and among others.
