January is “Zero-Waste Month” by virtue of Proclamation No. 760 signed by former Pres. Aquino in 2014. The proclamation is an important reminder on the need to be mindful of the waste we produce.
In observance, the local government unit of Ormoc City participates in National Clean-Up Day early Friday morning, January 20. Concurrently, the activity was in line with the 17th Anniversary of Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000 (R.A. 9003).
With the theme, “EcoWaste Management, Engaging Response to the Changing Environment”, the local government conducted clean-up drive in 3 separate coastal barangays of Ormoc, namely: Brgys. Naungan, Linao, and Punta. The activity was done through the collaboration of DENR-EMB, police, army, and the concerned barangay councils.
Environmental preservation is one of the core development thrust and priorities of the administration. Hence, Ormoc City Government is urging everyone to help keep our environment clean and green all year round and for many years to come.
