MCHC choir wins “Awit ug Pagdaygon” chorale contest

The spirit of Christmas could be felt as four groups showcased their vocal prowess, singing Christmas carols in Ormoc Superdome on Friday evening, December 23.

Mariam-Christi Harmonic Council (MCHC) Choir brought home the bacon as they were hailed champion during the “Awit ug Pagdaygon” Christmas chorale competition. The group received the grand prize of P40,000 for the contest.

Singing “Carol of the Bells” for the English category and “Paskong Anong Saya” for the Tagalog category, MCHC Choir wowed the crowd with their wonderful performance and enchanting blend of voices.

On the second spot was DepEd Men’s Choir who won P25,000, followed by Deus Volt Choir on the third place with a prize of P15,000. St. Paul’s Choir came fourth, winning P5,000 prize.

Concurrent with the chorale competition was the awarding of the winning barangays for the Barangay Christmas decoration contest.

Brgy. Macabug bagged the grand prize of P50,000, while ten other barangays received consolation prizes of P5,000 each which were as follows: Brgys. Can-adieng, San Antonio, Camp Downes, Cogon, Alegria, San Pablo, Liloan, Bantigue, Curva, and Don Felipe Larrazabal.
